795 Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a rare stereoscopic slide featuring Brunel leaning on the chimney of the SS Great Eastern. The yellow card impressed bottom left "The London Stereoscopic Company 54 Cheapside", the reverse printed "The Great Eastern In the Stereoscope Photographed by special permission of the Board of Directors I.K Brunel Esq.." (taken on his last visit to the Ship). 84mm x 174mm In this photo from 5th September 1859 Brunel had been making a final inspection visit, but shortly after this photo was taken he suffered a stroke and died ten days later. 1000-1500
