4 After Hippolyte-Paul Delaroche (French 1797-1856) - Emperor Napoleon in his study, 19th Century oil on canvas 35.5cm x 29.5cm, within a gilt composition frame. Note: the present work is a copy of Delaroche's painting, originally commissioned in 1838 by Louisa, the 6th Countess of Sandwich. Delaroche portrays Napoleon in the attire of a Colonel of the Grenadiers de la Garde a' Pied, standing in his office at the Tuileries Palace. Delaroche's portrait draws inspiration from elements of David's renowned Portrait of Napoleon in his study (1812, National Gallery, Washington), reflected in both the pose and uniform 200-400
