(There was controversy surrounding the race which was abandoned after just one lap as the proximity of the spectators to the track raised serious safety concerns for the drivers. Ultimately, the F2 drivers collectively refused to race but fearing a riot if the event was completely cancelled, they agreed to a single-lap procession at reduced speed before abandoning the race and leaving the circuit.)
