Attributed to John Lewis (act. 1736-1776), Half Length Portrait of a Gentleman wearing a Navy Blue Jacket with Gold Brocade, Red Lining, and the embroidered badge of the Sea Serjeants, within a feigned oval, traditionally identified as Sir Robert Skyrme, 18th century oil on canvas, engraved ex-libris of Sea Serjeants affixed verso, 75cm x 61cm, within a gilt composition frame. Note: The Jacobite Society of Sea Sergeants was based in West and South Wales. They convened once a year at a seaside location, often for a week at a time, and unlike some societies did have women present at meetings. Provenance: noted as being in the possession of P.C.M. Hughes-Garbett in 1930.  £300-500
