Hugo Lonitz & Co 1868-1904, a pair of Majolica stands with grouse and chicks before bulrushes against an oak tree, the column encrusted with acorns and oak leaves. One base impressed with double fish mark and 1203, the other J.R.1204, 31cm h x 16cm diam. SOLD £700

One has a large chip to an oak leaf at the back, 2 small chips to the front and 4 chips to the ferns at the base. The stand with chicks has 4 chips to oak leaves at top, 4 chips to the ferns, chip to base and 3 chips to the inner base. One of the chicks has a chip to the end of his beak. The right facing piece has the mark of Hugo Lonitz, the other has the makers mark J.R.
