The letter is dated 30th December 1921 and reads Dear Mr. Wallis, I have now had time to look at the treatment that you were good enough to send me with regard to the rolling load problem on page 186 of my book. With regard to your query as to whether c = b should be c = l, I think it is correct as printed because it is assumed that the point is between the load W2 and the resultant. The remainder of your treatment seems to me to be perfectly sound and I have filed your note with a view to incorporating it in a revised edition of the book. I would like to take this opportunity of congratulating you on the uniform excellence both in finish and treatment of the work which you have sent to me for correction through the U.C.C.
