Lot 171
A set of of 6 William IV rosewood dining chairs with bell flower relief carved cresting rails, pierced spars, Trafalgar drop in seats on lappette carved legs

Examining these chairs closely, it is easier to consider them as 3 pairs of chairs. Both of the chairs with the carved mid rails have damage to the fretwork but we do have an envelope of spare pieces although we do not know if this would completely restore them. The second pair have plain mid rails but have extra embellishments to the top rail. The left hand decoration to one of these chairs is loose but again, we do have it. Both of the capital sections which sit at the top of the uprights are missing on the other one of this pair, although again, we have them. Both of the plainest pair (plain mid-rails and no decoration to top rail) have old breaks and repairs to the right hand sides. Both of these chairs also have chips to the back, one to the back of bar back and the other to the back where the crack in the upright is. The chair with the crack and chip to the leg is loose but all the other chairs are in sturdy condition.
