Lot 182
A handsome 19th Century French 8 day repeating carriage clock with gilt metal dial striking on a gong, contained in a gilt metal case, the dial marked James Crichton Paris, the reverse marked EM & Co, complete with leather carrying case £400-500

The clock is in good condition overall. All of the gilding is present although to the top of the clock it is rather dirty and you can see that the gilding has been lacquered for protection. The lacquer is very dirty and we are unable to know if this will clean up easily or if the clock will need regilding. The clock movement appears to be working but it does need a very good clean. The only obvious fault is that the top handle is rather loose but this can be remedied by tightening the internal bolts.
