A fine quality 19th Century Eastern hardwood and ivory banded trinket box with hinged lid, raised on paw feet 12" £180-220

This box is in good overall condition. The box itself is sound, having no damage to the hinges or carcass. There is some damage to the ivory decoration. The panel to the top is cracked and several of the ivory bands are broken. The casket is Anglo Indian and made in the Vizagapatam area of India strictly for the English market. It is constructed of sandalwood with ivory filigrees decorated with lac-work and dates to 1840
