An 18th Century oval portrait miniature of a gentleman, on copper, inscribed on verso "Portrait of Capt (Charles) Brown (1678-1753) Porto Bello" 9cm x 7.5cm Captain Brown a renowned Naval Officer served during the Nine Years War and Wars of the Spanish Succession, Quadruple Alliance and Austrian Succession. He commanded HMS Stromboli, York, Advice, Oxford, Buckingham and Hampton Court. Later he was Lieutenant - Governor of the Greenwich Hospital
