Lot 449
Jamieson Aberdeen, a pair of mid 19th Century 42 bore, Scottish all metal percussion belt pistols by Jamieson Aberdeen, with 16cm mirror blued barrels, the octagonal breeches and muzzles with silver inlaid scrolls, the round centre sections with fine scroll engraving, the signed locks and hammers engraved with scrolls and borders, the silver plated stocks engraved overall with scrolls and borders, the escutcheon with crest, motto and initials J.F.L, with grotesque mask butt caps and foliate embossed trigger guards. Having plain blued steel belt hooks and ram rods. Contained in a later rosewood and metal mounted case, containing steel pincer mould, nipple key, turn-screw, embossed copper powder flask, and key to the case  £4500-5500

The crest and initials are those of the Scottish Leith family, there is a very small patch of rust to one belt hook and to one muzzle. The case is later but very nice, we are unsure if the flask is correct. The turn screw looks modern. The nipple key is modern and not matching in wood grain.
