Lot 479
A wool work sampler by Annie Bennett aged 11, 1863, 1 other aged 13 1865 and 1 other by Elizabeth Pearce aged 8 together with 3 other samplers, framed SOLD £150

All of the samplers in this lot are foxed and stained. The Elizabeth Ann Pearce sampler has staining particularly to the edges. There are no holes or tears and the backing is fine. There is some fading. Both the Ann and the Emily Bennett samplers have a wider weave to the backing. They are both faded but there are no holes or tears to either piece but there are nail marks and rusting around each edge. The lettering only sampler has a hole to the centre but is otherwise in good order. Then there are 2 samplers which are very dilapidated. One has been cut up and obviously used for something else and the other has loss of a lot of the stitching.
