Sir Barnes Wallis 'Dam Busters' Collection auction held on Wednesday 25th of March 2026

A plastic diorama depicting the R.100 airship docked its mooring mast in St. Hubert Airfield, Quebec, Canada on August 3, 1930. 36cm h x 55cm l x 22cm d. The model visible in the background of many photos of Barnes Wallis' office and depicts the R.100 after its 78 hour transatlantic flight to Canada.

Condition report

The Airship is in good condition but has a slightly damaged nose cone. The mast tower is snapped, as is the associated tower scaffold (broken pieces supplied in a bag), the models perspex cover is cracked and a small section is missing to the rear bottom right-hand corner. Museum reference 1992/0771/M
