A fine Victorian brass inlaid coromandel toilet box containing 6 silver topped cut glass boxes, 7 silver topped cut glass bottles and a silver topped inkwell - all London 1861 maker TW, a silver mounted powder box London 1892 maker GB. GWR. JB, 2 silver mounted hair brushes London 1855 maker WN, all engraved with formal scrolls and monogrammed CA, the fall front containing 9 mother of pearl mounted implements, 2 pairs of steel scissors, a steel thimble and a S Mordan & Co propelling pencil. Having 3 secret drawers, the base drawer being released by a faux screw (inoperable), the lock by J Bramah with key 23cm h x 35.5cm w x 27.5 d SOLD £1500

The box has a split and some minor scratches to the top of the lid and 2 of the secret drawers are stuck. The taller bottles at the back of the box have some minor grazes to the shoulders. One of the long thin glass boxes from the fold out trays has a small chip to the decoration at one end. Both contents and box are otherwise in good condition.
