Lot 651
A Majolica table centre piece in the form of a cherub with cart 9" £30-50

This lot is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks. The only problem with the piece is that the underside has some strange painting to teh edges. The centre of the underside has a clear glaze over it and is all crazed. However around the edge, the paint is not covered by a clear glaze and there is no crazing. At first glance, I thought that this was because there is restoration to around the edges of the base but this is not the case. The lot is reassuringly crazed all over and has no signs of restoration and the conclusion we have drawn is that perhaps the lot was mounted onto something else which when removed has caused some sort of damage which has then been painted over.
