There is a glued/repaired hole to the forehead of the girl on the left, crack lure throughout. The painting is loose on the stretcher and there are many small patches of overpainting and touching up. To the back of the frame is written S Richards, Dec 21st 1867 but we do not know if this has any relevance to the painting
