Attributed to Raymond Arthur Roadnight (British, b.1941),? Female Nude Study, 20th century oil on board, bears a false signature "E. Othon Friesz", 58cm x 44cm, within a painted composition frame. Note: The attribution to Roadnight is based on stylistic similarities with nine oil paintings on panel sold by David Duggleby Auctioneers on 8 February 2024 (lot 4125). Born in High Wycombe, Roadnight trained for three years under Patrick Reyntiens and John Piper, working on stained-glass commissions for Liverpool and Coventry Cathedrals. These included the great baptistry window at the rebuilt Coventry Cathedral, the Lantern crowning Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, and the large windows in the chapel at Oundle School. Roadnight has exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Alfred East Gallery, Chichele College in Higham Ferrers, and Burleighfield House in Loudwater.
