Brought up in South Africa he travelled extensively and returned to Britain,where, during the war, he was temporarily blinded by a V2 rocket. He took up painting as a hobby whilst living in Cannes and used a palette knife. He painted idealistic European views of sunny restful days. He retired to Rottingdean in Brighton.
