Note: After the full-scale work now installed in the grounds of Chartwell, Winston Churchill's home in Kent, "Married Love" was created in 1978 at Lady Churchill's request. Captivated by Nemon's earlier portrayal of her husband at Westerham Green, she remarked, "This is how I see him and that is how I love him." Three Emergency Issue Hong Kong Government $1 notes overprinted on Chinese 5 yuan banknotes all running in sequence B045651,B045653, B045652. The notes were issued in 1941 shortly before the surrender of British forces to the Japanese Army.
The vendor's father Ronald Sleap was based on Hong Kong from 1938 working for AS Watson. During the war he was a Lieutenant in the 3rd Artillery Battalion of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence force. Interred by the Japanese in 1941 in Civilian Camp N (a postcard by Mr Sleap from the Internment Camp sold at Spinks for $2200HKD - auction CSS68 lot 615), later released in 1945 he remained in Hong Kong until 1968.
