  • Fausto Zonaro (1854-1929), a view from Uskudar, Istanbul of ladies and ferrymen at a jetty on the Bosphorus. Oil on panel signed lower right F Zonaro 18cm x 28cm.

This lot has been authenticated from photographs by Erol Makzume who noted it has been poorly restored

Fausto Zonaro arrived in Istanbul in 1891. Five years later in 1896 he was appointed court artist by Sultan Aldulhamit II and for nineteen years thereafter he was one of Istanbul's most renowned artists.
