Attributed to Gillows, a mahogany pedestal architect’s desk, circa 1790. The gilt, double-ratcheted, leather-tooled writing surface having rising candle flap and detachable document rest, above a secretaire drawer revealing a green baize writing slide, above six hinged inlaid lettered compartments and two secret compartments. The sides having fitted brass handles and hinged candle sconces, central recess flanked by three drawers to each side, fitted with brass handles, 96cm h x 126cm w x 70cm d.
