  • A section of iron rail from the track at Merthyr Tydfil where Richard Trevithick ran the very first locomotive in 1804, contained  in a presentation case 6cm x 24cm x  32cm complete with label showing analysis of the steel used, together with a letters page from The Engineer, dated June 4, 1920 writing about the section, it’s acquisition and subsequent analysis by the prominent and respected engineer W T Anderson. This lot has been entered for sale by the family of W T Anderson.
